Race Details / Course Description
This is a USAT sanctioned event thus USAT membership is required for all participants.
There will be a USAT official monitoring the race.
Sprint triathlon: .5km swim (600 meter open water swim or 500 meter pool swim), 21.91 km bike (13 miles), 5km run (3.1 miles).
Age Groups: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+. Your age as of Dec. 31, 2010 determines you age group. There will be Clydesdale (200 # and up) and Athena (150 # and up) divisions but they will start within their age groups so national ranking points can be awarded.
There will be 2 swim courses to choose from once again. The open water swim will be 600 meters and will be held in Sloan’s Lake. The other swim course will be held in the Municipal pool. The pool swim distance will be 500 meters but will only have 55 slots available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In order to accommodate this unique pool/open water swim, the transition area will still be in Lion’s Park, in the parking lot just west of the Community house and adjacent to the large gazebo. So those in the open water swim will exit the beach and go right on the jogging path to get to the transition area. Those in the pool swim will head south out of the pool on the grassy area between the Spray park and the Put Hut Minature golf course to get to the transition area. Due to the possible rough terrain between the pool and the transition area, it is recommended that all those competing in the pool swim have some sort of foot attire to get from the pool to the transition area.
Since the pool swim and lake swim are considered 2 different courses, the pool swim contestants and the lake swim contestants will be given to the top 3 finishers in each age group for those competing in pool swim and for those competing in lake swim.
Aquabike event is new for 2010! For those of you who still enjoy the multipsport lifestyle but have hung up the running shoes. The event consists of the swim and bike course only. As in the triathlon, you can choose between either the pool or the lake for your swim course. Bike course will be the same as the triathlon course. The Aquabike course is completed when you cross over the timing pad upon re-entering the transition area after finishing the bike course. There will be two age groups: 20-39 and 40 & above with 1st thru 3rd awards given in female and male age groups. And best of all, you get to be first in line for your breakfast burrito!!!
